The Planting Life

By on September 27, 2019

I have always been an avid plant lover and lately I have been more intentional in my planting life. A couple of years ago, I made a change to the garden at the side of my house and this expanded my gardening capacities.

I was determined to make sure I did it right and jumped on YouTube where it appears everyone goes to these days when looking for answers in the DIY space. It turns out that there are a myriad of kind people who have documented and shared their own personal horticultural adventures. Here are some of the vloggers that have provided sage advice as I continue to nurture and grow my plant family

Laura LeBoutillier

Laura from GardenAnswers is the ultimate YouTube Rockstar when it comes to gardening. She is the first YouTuber that I went to looking for answers for my gardening journey. Her videos are instructive and well-paced and the passion in her delivery is infectiously inspiring.

In addition to the GardenAnswer YouTube channel where she uploads her videos, you can also follow this popular gardening sensation on Instagram under the handle @gardenanswer

Christian, The Crazy Plant Guy

The crazy plant guy is the one who introduced me to the word plantaholics. He also made me fall in love with the Monstera plant (full disclosure: I do not yet have one, but I am on the hunt). The plant care tips – especially when it comes to watering plants have been so helpful and made all the difference in my plant journey.

In addition to his YouTube Channel, you can also find him on Instagram under the handle @crazyplantguy

Summer Rayne Oakes

She is one of the most popular Gardening YouTubers and the one that most people look up to when it comes to bringing nature indoors. She has grown over 1,000 houseplants in her Brooklyn home and also has a pet chicken. She is the author of the bestselling book, How To Make a Plant Love You: Cultivate Green Space in Your House and Heart. With a staggering number of plants in her Brookyln apartment, she also makes room in her life for a pet chicken and gave some wonderful advice in one of her videos about how to deal with plant bugs the natural way.

In addition to her YouTube Channel, you can also find her on Instagram under the handle @homesteadbrooklyn and visit her website.

Michael’s Orchids

I stumbled on Michael’s Orchids when I was exploring new ways to grow orchids. He gave me the courage to grow orchids hydroponically and what a joyful outcome it has been.

In addition to his YouTube channel, you can also find him on Instagram under the handle: @michaelsorchids.
