Jola Naibi

Writer and amateur photog. I seek to inspire and inform with the words I write and share and the photos I take. I have written a book of short stories: Terra Cotta Beauty, and I am working on a lot more. Reading and writing fuel my energy. In reading, I explore this vast and diverse world, in writing, I employ my over-active imagination and address the 'what-if' questions that life often throws at us.

Malgudi Days by R.K. Narayan

By on June 13, 2017

R.K. Narayan (1906-2001) is one of the most widely read and well know authors of Indian descent writing in English. A lot of his fiction is set in the fictional town of Malgudi as is this collection which shares the heart and soul of the town showcasing the highs and lows of the townsfolk from the entrepreneurs to the beggars.

Next morning, I went over to take a last look at my engine before leaving the town. I could hardly believe my eyes. The engine was not there. I looked about and raised a hue and cry. Search parties went round. The engine was found in a disused well nearby, with its back up. I prayed to heaven to save me from fresh complications.
