Orange Butterfly: A Review
My high school friend OctobeRaine recently published Orange Butterfly – a collection of love poems. Now, in the battle between poetry and prose, prose is often the victor in my reading life. True, I have been known to string along the odd limerick. However, there is something intimate and personal about love poems that makes me want to gravitate to them. The poems in Orange Butterfly are no exception. So deeply evocative, it makes you think that the poet is talking to you or about you, and there is nothing to say that she is not. It does not matter if you are in love, have been in love or want to be in love, the poems hold you in a tight embrace:
I heed your voice as it calls to me
Every human being is born with the desire to love and be loved. In the journey to love, some find it easily, while for others it a tumultuous path full of the perils of betrayal and heartbreak. The poems in Orange Butterfly resonate with the lover in all of us, no matter what stage of the love journey you are on.

Thank you Jola of rsuch a beautiful review. Like you I prefer prose but there is something about poetry that takes you on a journey so deep and encompassing in fewer words that appeals to me a lot. A few of the poems like the one you quoted from, Beautiful Dream, were originally prose converted into poems. It is a great honour to be featured on your blog. Thank you x OctobeRaine
