Writer and amateur photog. I seek to inspire and inform with the words I write and share and the photos I take. I have written a book of short stories: Terra Cotta Beauty, and I am working on a lot more. Reading and writing fuel my energy. In reading, I explore this vast and diverse world, in writing, I employ my over-active imagination and address the 'what-if' questions that life often throws at us.

The Seal Bug’s Got Me!

By on June 5, 2014

So I like to have music when I write and there are some singers that bring out the creative juices in me with their singing and once their music is on, I get fired up and inspired. Seal is one of those on a list that includes Sting, Asa, Adele, Ryan Cabrera, Omar, Najee, Laura Izibor, Corrine Bailey Rae, Lara George, Corneille, Hootie and the Blowfish, the Gin Blossoms, okay let me stop now because it is an endless list given my eclectic taste in music. So the Seal bug got me and every day since the month of June started, I have been on a constant Seal rewind. I think I have played both of his Soul albums often enough that my nine year old was crooning ‘People Get Ready’ in the bathroom this morning after requesting to have it on repeat as she fell asleep last night. It may have something to do with the fact that Terra Cotta Beauty is coming out next week and I often had Seal playing in the background as I wrote some of those stories. So in celebratory mode, here are two of my Seal favorites. And if you haven’t already, please join the Terra Cotta Beauty Facebook page to find out updates on the book and trivia on Lagos where the stories in the book are set.
