Lupita Nyong’o Wins the Oscar

It was a truly special moment to watch Lupita Nyong’o receive Hollywood’s highest honor at the 86th Annual Academy Awards last night. She won the Best Supporting Actress for her role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave.

In her acceptance speech, she declared that ‘no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid’. She continues to serve as an inspiration for many.

Here she is accepting the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Award a few weeks ago.
