Writer and amateur photog. I seek to inspire and inform with the words I write and share and the photos I take. I have written a book of short stories: Terra Cotta Beauty, and I am working on a lot more. Reading and writing fuel my energy. In reading, I explore this vast and diverse world, in writing, I employ my over-active imagination and address the 'what-if' questions that life often throws at us.

The Orchard of Lost Souls ~ Nadifa Mohammed

By on January 23, 2014

So, I will the first to admit that I was a little bit overly ambitious in compiling my reading list for 2013 and this year, I plan to be a lot more conservative. Translate that to mean – one book at a time. Although, I am still reading Jhumpa Lahiri (as previously mentioned), but I never read on book at a time so I am diving into another one.

I’ll be reading Nadifa Mohammed’s The Orchard of Lost Souls. It is the author’s second novel and centered around three women living in Somalia in the late-1980’s, during the time when the dictatorship of Siad Barre was starting to unravel. I can’t wait to start reading this one!
